AI Note-takers Inside the Tools You Already Use

Notion's meeting notes are worth separating from the workspace they live in. The capture model is closer to a dedicated desktop notetaker than to a suite feature: the app records the system audio and your microphone, so nothing joins the call and the other participants are not notified by a new attendee appearing.

The browser version captures only the microphone, which the documentation suggests suits in-person conversations, while the desktop app handles both sides of a video call. Either way the result is a Notion page, which is the real argument for it — if your team's notes already live in Notion, this removes an export step and a second subscription.

Customisation is genuinely open: the summary template is an ordinary Notion page you edit to define your preferred structure and instructions. The cost is commercial and informational: it requires a Business or Enterprise plan, and the languages it can handle are documented nowhere at all.

ClickUp's notetaker only makes sense as part of ClickUp. A recorder is sent into the meeting from the planner or calendar, and what comes back lands in the workspace where the team already tracks its work. If your actions end up as ClickUp tasks anyway, that removes the transcription step that usually sits between a summary and a tracker.

Setting it up is more involved than with the standalone products. An administrator or owner has to activate the notetaker before anyone can use it, and usage is bought either as part of an AI bundle on a paid plan or as a standalone add-on on any plan. That is two decisions by two people before a first note exists.

The cost is that it is a feature rather than a product. Documentation on the capture itself is thin next to the specialists. Which languages it handles is nowhere stated, so nothing is recorded on that front. For a team already committed to the platform it is a sensible default; as a note-taking product judged on its own, it is not competing with the tools that do only this.

Slack's huddle notes cover a meeting the rest of this directory largely ignores. A huddle is not on anyone's calendar, has no invitation for a bot to accept, and is over before a recorder could be arranged. Having Slack take the notes itself is the only practical way that conversation gets written down.

The mechanics are deliberately light. Any member of a channel can set AI notes to start automatically there, unless an owner or administrator has restricted the feature. The notes appear in the channel, which means they are found by the people who were in the huddle rather than filed somewhere that needs remembering.

The cost is scope, and it is the right way to see this one. Judged as a meeting notetaker it is narrow. It is available on paid Slack plans, says nothing anywhere about which languages it handles, and produces a summary with action items rather than the transcript, templates and search the specialists provide. It is a useful capture of a conversation type that otherwise vanishes, not a replacement for a tool that covers scheduled calls.
